Montgey, Mons Jovis. Jupiter Mount, the name Montgey aludes to Roman period but its history began long before. The castle bears witness in its construction to the Roman era, then medieval and its restoration in the 17th century. Its history is rich in events. You will find a calvary with a stele recalling that a battle during the crusade against the cathars took place there in 1211 at the foot hill in Auvezines. Montgey has 286 inhabitants now whereas ther were about a thousand inhabitants in the 13th century.
