The Black Mountain
The Montagne Noire is a world of its own!
4 departments (Tarn, Hérault, Aude and Haute-Garonne) and 2 totally different faces the steep and green oceanic slope which gives its name to the mountain because of the dark foliage of the trees. Here, forests and pastures are king. It is the kingdom of water and the ingenuity of Pierre-Paul Riquet to ensure the flow of water into the Canal du Midi. Beautiful mountain villages are to be discovered.
The other side is drier with its vegetation of garrigue and olive trees typical of the Mediterranean climate. Vineyards are well suited to these sunny slopes of Minervois and Cabardès appellations.
The Black Mountain can be discovered, appreciated and enjoyed on foot, by bike, by car or by motorbike in all seasons!
