LES CAMMAZES PICNIC AREA
The history of Les Cammazes is deeply linked to Roquefort Castle history until the Hundred Years' War. This fortress is located in the heart of Sor Gorges. You can discover the remains of this castle during walking paths available at the tourist office. Not to be missed Le pays de l'eau.... et la route de lac, a scenic route which brings you at the discovery of several lakes, some listed at the UNESCO. The village of Les Cammazes occupies a plateau between the Sor and Laudot valleys, surrounded by a vast forest at the south-western end of the Tarn department. The village shelters 300 inhabitants and benefits a microclimate of Atlantic and Mediterranean influences at an average altitude of 615 metres, in the Parc Naturel Régional du Haut Languedoc. The village location overlooks the vast plains of the Lauragais. A privileged homeland of green tourism, Les Cammazes offers a wide range of walks for all ages.
